Independent Contractor – Associate Medical Director
The Associate Medical Director works closely with the Disability Management Staff to ensure that all Workers’ Compensation, Short Term Disability, Family Medical Leave Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act services are provided in a high quality, effective, and timely manner.
Associate Medical Director Job Duties:
- Provides case management services to employees referred by a client that is consistent with established protocols to determine compensability, and quality care.
- Reviews records to assess medical condition and the appropriateness of the length of requested medical leaves.
- Contact other health care providers to clarify the need for leave or understanding of the leave request
- Perform disability documentation consistent with care management
Associate Medical Director Job Requirements:
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of practice
- Valid DEA license in the stat of practice
- Minimum of 5 years post residence working in the field of medicine
Call Center – Disability Assistant

Call Center – Disability Assistant Job Duties:
- Assist customers in how to apply for a leave of absence using our Automated Reporting System and offer assistance with general leave related questions
- Balance the high volume of phone calls
- Manage daily, time-sensitive tasks to maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations
Call Center – Disability Assistant Job Requirements:
- High School diploma
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and be able to build relationships
Disability Claims Manager – Full-time
As a member of the MorningStar Health team, the Disability Claims Manager supports our mission to help our clients have a healthy and productive workforce by providing excellent management and support services. Outstanding customer service, confidentiality and productivity are required by the Disability Claims Manager.
Disability Claims Manager Job Duties:
- Maintain advanced knowledge of FMLA, FML (state leave laws), Short Term Disability STD) plans, ADA and other leave laws as required
- Provide expertise and claim support to claims management team
- Assist in the development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures
- Ensure high quality and legal compliance is maintained
- Oversee daily operations of staff
- Train, coach and develop staff through formal and informal trainings, annual development plans, staff meetings and one-on-one sessions
Disability Claims Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or Business Management preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3 years, personnel management experience
- 5 years of experience in FMLA, FML, STD and/or ADA claim management
Disability Management Specialist

Disability Management Specialist Job Duties:
- Manage and process claims
- Determine benefits due pursuant to a short term disability plan
- Ensure the ongoing processing of claims
- Analyze reported Family Medical Leave (FMLA) requests and make determinations based on state and federal regulations
Disability Management Specialist Requirements:
- High School Diploma required, Associate’s or other advance degree preferred
- Experience with FMLA and/or ADA regulations and claims processing highly preferred
Integrated Disability Specialist – Full-time
As a member of the MorningStar Health team, the Integrated Disability Specialist supports our mission to help our clients have a healthy and productive workforce by providing excellent claims management services. Outstanding customer service, confidentiality and productivity are required by the Integrated Disability Specialist.
Integrated Disability Specialist Job Duties:
- Analyze, Manage and Process complex disability claims and make determinations based on state and federal regulations
- Advise case managers and make recommendations regarding the best approach to managing FMLA, STD and ADA claims
- Ensure the ongoing processing of claims
- Communication clearly with clients and claimants on all aspects of the claims process
Integrated Disability Specialist Requirements:
- High School Diploma required, Associate’s or other advance degree preferred
- Three (3) years of FMLA, STD and/or ADA management required
Nurse Case Manager
As a member of the MorningStar Health team, you will provide case management and consultation for managing Short-Term Disability, Family & Medical Leave (FML) – Federal and State, and Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) claims . What’s also great about this position is you can work from home or an off-site location of your choosing a few days a week! You will look back in two years and be impressed by how your hard work made a difference!
Required Education and Experience/Credentials/Certifications:
- Current RN license in the state of Michigan
- 5 years of nursing experience
Preferred Education and Experience/Credentials/Certifications:
- 3 years of disability management experience
- CM Certification preferred
